If you live in a dry or cold climate, using a humidifier in your home can greatly improve air quality and make the air more comfortable. Humidifiers turn water vapor into humidity, which is then dispersed where it's needed. This helps reduce allergic reactions, asthma attacks, and air quality.

An unclean humidifier may quickly become home to mold, spreading germs and spores throughout your home. You need to make sure you’re cleaning your humidifier regularly to prevent mold growth inside. There are a few methods you can try to prevent mold growth inside and around your humidifier.

Fortunately, the cleaning process is simple enough. It's quick and easy:

  • First, empty the unit of water.
  • Afterward, flush it thoroughly with hot water and white vinegar.
  • Use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the unit's interior to remove any scales or mold buildup.
  • Rinse the unit with hot water.
  • Set the unit aside to dry before reassembling your humidifier.
